About Angel Fire Area
Economic Development Group

The EDG is a 501(c)(6) non-profit corporation created as a public-private partnership to promote and support economic development activities in Angel Fire and throughout the Moreno Valley. Initial founding partners were the Village of Angel Fire, the Angel Fire Chamber of Commerce and the Angel Fire Resort.

Vision: The Angel Fire Area will have a broadly varied and sustainable economy that attracts new residents and businesses as well as tourists.

Mission statement: The Angel Fire Area Economic Development Group promotes and represents common business interests, to improve business conditions, create additional jobs and stimulate economic growth and vitality in our community and region.

The EDG works on its own and collaboratively to identify and address critical business needs and to implement Angel Fire's Economic Development Strategic Plan, to encourage economic stability, diversification and business development in Angel Fire and the Moreno Valley. Locally, the EDG serves as a catalyst to strengthen relationships within the business community as well as with companies who do business in Angel Fire but are not located here. The EDG also works closely with local, regional, statewide and federal elected officials and agency staff to educate them about economic development needs and priorities in the Angel Fire area and to promote implementation of projects to address economic development goals. The EDG assists local existing and start-up businesses through its participation in the Taos Entrepreneurial Network.

Although Angel Fire's Economic Development Strategic Plan emphasizes creation and support of non-tourism based businesses, tourism is an important component of economic development and will always remain a key part of our local economy. In addition, visitors have been identified as a "first line" audience to the community can extend its invitation to consider permanent residence, living and working in Angel Fire as well as playing.

Therefore, in early 2009 the EDG established the Angel Fire Convention & Visitors Bureau, under long-term contract with the Village of Angel Fire. The CVB operates the Angel Fire Visitor Center, fulfills information requests about visiting the community, works directly with local lodgers and recreation providers to create "stay and play" packages, assists business and leisure groups with planning and customized "concierge" services, produces the community's annual SummerFest event, and promotes Angel Fire to prospective individual and group visitors.

The CVB is an active partner in regional organizations such as the Enchanted Circle Marketing Co-op and New Mexico Tourism Department Regions 4 and 5 as well as statewide organizations such as the Tourism Association of New Mexico.
