Pay your respects in Angel Fire
The first memorial and the only State Park in the United States dedicated to our Vietnam Veterans, this internationally renowned chapel and visitor center are devoted to remembering all our vets, providing educational opportunities for the public and maintaining a haven for healing and reconciliation.
The Memorial is located on Hwy 68 less than a mile from Angel Fire, overlooking the Moreno Valley. The Chapel and grounds are always open, and the State Park’s newly remodeled and expanded Visitor Center will officially open Memorial Weekend 2010.
The Peace and Brotherhood Chapel was constructed beginning in 1968 by Dr. and Mrs. Victor Westphall in memory of their son David who was killed in Con Thien, Vietnam. The grounds and garden that now surround the Chapel and Visitor Center provide additional quiet space for contemplation and enhance the visitor experience for vets and non-vets alike. Thousands of photographs and other memorabilia from the Vietnam era are housed at the Memorial site.
Nearly 80,000 visitors come to this very special place every year. The Memorial hosts numerous events throughout the year and is an especially busy destination during Run for the Wall (the Friday prior to Memorial Day), Memorial Day weekend and Veterans Day.
