The Roasted Clove

We had two great meals while staying in Angle Fire. Both meals were at the Roasted Clove. The restaurant has a very home feel and everyone was so helpful. Get the appeteasers. These are wonderful. My husband had the elk both nights and thought the meals was wonderful. We were a party of eight and they handled our group with great efficiency and no problems. I wish we had this restaurant back home in Texas!!

I've been to the Roasted Clove three times, and the food is dependably good. The appetizer, "Fig & Goat Cheese Bruschetta" could easily be ordered an a desert.....it's that scrumptious. The Southwestern Shrimp & Corn Cakes can't be passed up. Two in my party ordered the Filet Mignon Tacos, and both said it was "OK", but wouldn't order it again. The Thai Red Curry Mussels, and the Mediterranean Salmon got a thumbs up, and well as the daily seasonal soups. My daughter and I went rather late one night, and although we were the only ones left in the restaurant, we were never felt rushed. And, the bakers were still cranking out freshly baked bread for us. Wait staff was courteous, and service was prompt. Outdoor dining is available on the patio, which is nice on cool summer nights.

This is a destination restaurant that is satisfying on many levels. From the friendly greeting at the door to the classic decor, low key lighting and music to the lovingly prepared food. The salad with warm goat cheese dressed with garlic balsamic and the olive oil/balsamic dip with roasted cloves of garlic served with warm french bread was only the beginning. We had a perfectly aged filet mignon on a bed of mashed potatoes, served with seasonal vegetables accompanied by a Malbec from the well chosen wine list. We topped it off with house-churned vanilla ice cream and a cup of their best coffee. We know the ice cream was freshly made because Chef Tom Bowles was giving a final cooking lesson to a young student from Columbus, GA, who was heading home with her family the next day.

If you are anywhere in the area, this is worth the extra miles. Check ahead for open dates and times. We'll be back!
